Resources

Hi Life Group leaders.  Following is a list of the resources available for Life Groups.  The top of the list is the material I have most recently acquired.  There is a check out book in the photocopy and resource room you need to fill in as you borrow the material.  I usually purchase a couple of copies of each and they are on a first come basis.  A lot of research goes in to these materials before buying them so you can be sure that they should be suitable for a group setting.

Enjoy and be blessed

Leadership Then and Now

It is easy for leadership to become a discussion in which the strongest voices come from beyond the Bible or in which only a few people participate. This series injects a fresh range of biblical material into that discussion and brings the possibility of leadership to a wider range of people.

The Sermon on the Mount - God's way of life

'Pipe dream or possibility'? The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) is one of the most well known and yet misunderstood passages of Scripture. For some the Sermon on the Mount represents the 'pie in the sky' ideals, unattainable in this life. For others it is a manifesto for radical counter-cultural living which only a few 'super-spirituals' can achieve.

Spirit Then and Now

It seems that if you ask 20 people about the Holy Spirit you get 20 mutually exclusive answers. Some think of the Holy Spirit in vague terms, as a kind of ghost-like figure who wafts in and out of our reality. For others it is as if the Spirit is more present and tangible than you or I are. And still for others the Spirit is a no-go area: too controversial, too elusive, too divisive. In these short talks and studies key biblical texts are examined in order to think through why we believe what we believe about the Holy Spirit – and the results are surprising, practical, and quite frankly inspiring. From creation, through community, to consummation the identity and mission of the Holy Spirit is explored and applied as Carey faculty lead us through what it means to live in the presence of the Spirit – then and now.

Church Then and Now

Church in the 21st Century seems to be more complex and varied than ever before. As the church is poised to mobilise and globalise, do we find ourselves missing the point of what God has really intended the Church to be?

Our cutting edge programmes are presenting God as relevant and available... but at what cost?

The eight sessions on this DVD, presented by six of the lecturers at Carey, highlight the fundamental differences between 1st-century and 21st Century churches in terms of cultural relevance, evangelism and discipleship, and how aspects from both are critical to maintaining healthy relationships in today's church.
