David Friend Concert

Nine years ago, a passionate young man had a dream to raise money to support a local kiwi doctor, with his mission for saving lives in Zambia. From this dream developed a night that provides a stage for local musicians to express their talents to the community, to share good food together and ultimately to raise money to send to Dr David Friend who has dedicated his life to serving these humble communities. Below is some more information to let you know a little bit more about who David is and what he is doing in Zambia. Please join us for an evening full of fun, food, music and purpose!! More details will come on our Facebook page to let you know about what local faces will be performing for you soon....

Dr. David Friend is a kiwi who has been a missionary in Zambia, Africa, for many years. His work in Zambia covers many aspects which can be divided up into three main areas:

- Mukinge Hospital -

David's primary work is to see to the medical needs of the surrounding and extended area. He treats a large variety of bizarre ailments and accidents that you would hardly ever see in New Zealand. The work he does here is phenomenal.

- Kikonkomene Leprosy Village -

The people at the leprosy village have basically been left to die. No-one wants to look after them, not even their families. This is where David has stepped in. He makes regular visits to the lepers and, along with funds from the concert, has been able to give the lepers a better quality of life. He has done this by rebuilding their homes that previously let water and rats in. He has helped them with their missing limbs by sourcing material to create protective shoes and walking sticks. The funds are also able to provide these people with food, soap and firewood.

- Kasempa Prison -

Over the past few years, David has assisted in the planning and construction of the prison's church. With the help of the money raised at the concert, he is able to supply the prisoners with blankets, soap, bibles and hymn books. He also befriends the prisoners as they don't get many visitors.

Many good things have been done with the money that has been raised over the past years and lives have been changed!! Please join us in making a difference!! See you there :)
